Seven years in barrel. That is what separates Havana Club 7 from every other rum on the trolley. Cuba’s most celebrated aged rum is dark amber, full-bodied and genuinely complex, opening with dried fruit and warm vanilla before moving into notes of dark chocolate, toasted wood, a hint of tobacco and a long, smooth finish that does not rush anywhere.
This is a rum you pour when the evening slows down, the sun is going and someone says they want something proper. Serve it neat or over a single large cube of ice, and let it do the work. It is also the backbone of a truly good daiquiri if you want to go that route, but honestly, this one deserves a glass of its own.
Works with: neat, over ice, aged rum daiquiri, or a classic Cuba Libre.
